Anyone out there ever hear of the Phantom Time Hypothesis? Dr. Hans-Ulrich Niemitz would like us to believe (That's a link to a very long paper) that the period between roughly 600 ad and 900 ad never actually exisited and that, at some unknown time in the past, the calendar was advanced about 297 years, making this actually the year 1709. He also believes that all the history we study from that time period is false -- that Charlamagne was a fictional character. Pretty interesting and out there stuff....
