So .... we went and saw Constantine last night, which was, overall much better than I expected (despite not being about a Byzantine Emperor, which was my first gleeful thought when Ivan asked me if I wanted to go see it). However, the big surprise of the night was the amazing trailer for Kingdom of Heaven, which is apparently a new film by Ridley Scott about the Crusades.

Please please please don't let this movie suck.

The trailer is amazing, although it does certainly have the same texture (and, I'm thinking, hits many of the same beats) as Gladiator. I do find myself wondering how well a movie about the epic struggle between Christians and Muslims will be received. There has, in fact, already been some buzz about this [NY Times Article from August 2004, may require registration] and I'm frankly surprised that I haven't heard more about this ... although May is coming, so I'm sure I will.
