Small Forgotten Pleasures

As I was doing stuff, I suddenly realized how quiet it was in here.

So I brushed the dust of my CDs and started playing some stuff I like. Stuff (The Clash, Violent Femmes, The Killers, Interpool) that I don't listen to anymore since E was born.

Turning music with a good backbeat up to 11 is a small, forgotten pleasure.

Doesn't E like to hear your music? Back when I taught nursery school, I had a very young "punked out" kid in my class. Most kids liked to sing Twinkle Twinkle, but this young man preferred The Clash and The Police :-)

He likes the '80's dance mix stuff we play for him, but I don't play him much Clash or harder stuff. I'm not really certain why -- I think partly its because it only feels "right" to me if played at a volume such that you can feel the bass beat in your sternum, which would really be too loud (and damaging) for him.
