The bank that I have my car loan with also isn't set up to accept payments over the web. It blows my mind, and mildly frustrates me every month, especially because I often sit down to pay my bills (online) around the 29 or 30th, and realize I have to mail my car payment.
Reason number 9876987635 that I'm glad I don't have any relationship with the phone company.
Can you do it through your bank? I pay all my bills with my banks electronic bill pay feature, they just send a paper check to businesses that won't accept payments other ways.
theresat's comment did remind me, though - if you can do it through your bank, you will still have to do it as early as if you were doing the mailing yourself, or maybe even a day or two earlier.
Taking that away from Verizon customers who used to be able to do it is part of Fairpoint's "seamless" transition. Along with making everyone who used Verizon as an ISP change their email address. They've been promising to have this available again in a few months since April of 2008.
Fairpoint doesn't run their own billing servers at this point, they are still renting Verizon's. That's what the huge 2 week fun that's just about to start is all about... Fairpoint has hired a third party company to install and migrate their customer information to a new billing/ordering/trouble ticket system.
It means no new service from Fairpoint, and no changes to your lines, etc. For two weeks... if, and only if they get it right during that time.
Pop up a big bowl of popcorn, cause this train-wreck could be fun to watch.
