Today is six weeks since the accident:

Things I can do:
-- Go up and down stairs (I still do stairs sitting down, but I can do them pretty quickly)
-- Take a shower by myself (as long as someone puts the seat in the shower for me)
-- Sit in a chair normally (my leg bends to about 70 degrees easily; 90 degrees with effort)
-- Creatively problem solve movement challenges.

Overall, its ok. I'm not in pain, I'm sleeping in my own bed, I'm working, I'm able to tuck my son in at night and I'm slowly starting to contribute to the running of the house again.

However, not being able to walk really sucks.

Things I can't do:
-- Walk
-- Drive
-- Carry a glass of water
-- Stand up when seated on the floor
-- Cook (I can't really get in our kitchen without help due to the baby gate; also I can't move ingredients around the kitchen easily)
-- Roll over in bed without waking up

There is a quote from an interview John Lennon gave near the end of his life that goes "And now my life has changed in oh so many ways, wop bop a lua, bop bam boom" that keeps running through my head. I won't go so far as to call this a transformational experience, but I can certainly say that any number of things about my life will be different from here on out. Josh is my hero for everything he's done. I wish this wasn't putting such a damper on Christmas for him ... its his favorite season and I'm sad we won't be able to decorate and be festive as we normally would.

Still, I'm ok, and so very thankful and grateful to everyone who has helped us over the past couple of months. Thank you.

Your perseverence is laudable.

I've been thinking about you lots and lots.

I've been thinking of you as well. I hope you're doing ok and the headaches are lessening. Did you know Thomas de Castellan when you lived here? He had the same thing done two or three weeks ago (at the ripe old age of 40) and he's up and around and healing well.

Also, your package is supposed to arrive today. Let me know if it does not.
