Two penguins being transported home on a commercial flight from Colorado to Seaworld in San Diego are asked to walk through the metal detectors at Denver International Airport.

More photos here.

Words fail me. I pray this was some kind of publicity stunt -- otherwise .... well ....

Yay penguins! I had to go look at all six photos--dunno whether their ID legbands contain enough metal to set off the metal detector, or whether the airport security was paranoid enough to think that Seaworld was involved in an exploding-penguin smuggling ring :-/

The photos reminded me of one day in grad school when I was idly flipping channels after lunch, and stopped on the local PBS affiliate just as Mr. Rogers was saying, "Let's see who's at the door...." He walked to the door and opened it, and two little penguins waddled in. Unfazed, Mr. Rogers kept up a steady stream of patter--"Good morning, I'm so glad you stopped by....Won't you come in and sit down....Watch your step there, that's good...."

I wonder how they got the seatbelts on for take-off and landing.

*giggle*

This is one of those 'regulations say' thingies, I guess. I just want to know how they scan dolphins & belugas when they are shipped by air. :)
Anyway, it's an excuse for some cute pictures.
