Early!

Mr E was up -- and I mean UP! -- at around 4 am. He was content to snuggle with me until his father's alarm went off at 530 am, and we spent the time spelling words and talking about word sounds, but 4 am is a little early.

Still, his mind is clearly full of words and sounds. Once again reaching a developmental milestone means no sleep for me. But, if it means he'll be reading soon, I'll take it.

Dear East Kingdom,

I think its high time we got ourselves a functional list, with strident moderation, and abandoned the current list to the nonsense that lives there. People are unsubscribing left, right, and center and we're losing a valuable resource for communication.

Isn't there someone, somewhere, who would volunteer to build a new, functional list-serv and then recruit, say four or five moderators for it -- moderators who would, you know, actually moderate.

The list (or the idea of a list) is useful. The signal to noise ratio is not.

Evan is currently testing his limits with us by screaming "NO I WON'T" and "DO IT RIGHT NOW!!!!" and crying with more anger and pathos than I've ever seen from him. It all started because he didn't want his diaper changed, but then he tried to shush his father by hitting him in the mouth, and that didn't go as planned.

Poor guy. He did take a nap at daycare, but he's still so tired.
