So, there's been a ton of buzz out there in the great internetoweb about Selma Hayek nursing a baby during her visit to Sierra Leone. (Media Circus: Time - St Louis Today - Chicago Tribune - Huffington Post - Guardian UK - Celebrity Baby Blog - ABC News.)
What's interesting to me is that there has been almost no follow up: The child she nursed is about a year old (several reports say that 'he was born on the same day as Hayek's own daughter'). Yes, certainly nursing him provided him with sustenance that day, but what about the next day, and the next and the next?
I appreciate the attention she's bringing to maternal and pediatric health needs in Sierra Leone (the original Nightline piece was about her work with Pampers to bring tetanus vaccines to the area), and the attention the YouTube clip is bringing to breastfeeding issues here in the US, but I'd also like a little more information, please. That's not a lot to ask from the media ... is it?
