It occurs to me that if only it was my LEFT knee instead of my right, I could at least drive. In the long term its the not being able to drive that's going to be the biggest inconvenience. Everything else, we can find a way around. The not driving involves either cabs or being totally reliant on someone else.
Well, that's alarming
Nov. 10th, 2008 12:05 pmJust spoke with the insurance company and now I'm all stressed out again.
She told me they don't yet have a copy of the police report, and until they do they "can't determine liability". This, despite the fact that the adjuster who looked over my bike left a message on Friday saying they were "sending me a check". Grrr. Clearly this is just a case of one hand not knowing what the other hand is doing, but in this case I'm not sure which hand to trust.
ETA: Yep, I think I'm actually having an anxiety attack. Oh joy.

3pm update
Nov. 10th, 2008 03:07 pmWell, I've been here almost 8 hours (Josh has to drop me off at 7:15 am in order for him to get to work on time; he can't pick me up until 530, so two and a half more hours to go...) and I feel ... ok. I'm able to lower my chair enough so that my leg isn't at a crazy angle. I've ordered a back-pillow thing and a footrest that should arrive tomorrow; then I think I'll be even more comfortable and productive.
Unjamming the copier was an adventure though, let me tell you.
In addition to doing my actual work, I have also: Talked with my other job (3 times -- once to the corporate health nurse and twice to my supervisors), talked with the insurance company, talked with my Ortho's office, and talked with HR here about short-term disability. Oh, and I've applied for a job.
I don't think I'll be up very late tonight. Although I am going to BEG Josh to wash my hair. BEG.

Two Boys
My boys on Halloween. E was dressed as "Bob the Builder" (except that I never got his shirt made, since I was busy being having surgery and all). Still, he loves the hat and belt (the hat is way too big, though).
He went with a group of about ten kids (many of whom you may have met at Pennsic). Apparently he had to be physically dragged (by other, older kids) up the first set of stairs, then nervously followed on the second, but by the third he was at the front of the line.
Rebekah (age 5) called him a "Hard Workin' Man". Heh.
Thanks to Thallos for the party and Rebekah's Mom for the photos!
*sigh* No Hair washing Tonight
Nov. 10th, 2008 10:49 pmWell, its 10:45 pm, we just finished dinner, and so there will not be any hair-washing tonight. Poor Josh is exhausted. Evan had a screaming fit when Josh tried to take him upstairs to bed ... I had to listen to "I want my mammma .... I want mammma .... MAMMAAAAA" as Josh took the flailing screaming wailing toddler up to his bed.
No hair washing tomorrow either, since its fighter practice and its important to me that he get to go.
mylisant came over last Tuesday and I K is coming over this week to basically babysit E since I'm not adult supervision right now.
There is a salon less than a block from where I work. Its very tempting to try and get there and have my hair washed but a) its really a waste of money, and b) I'm not sure I can make it up the brick sidewalk without assistance.
I do have an appointment with an attorney on Wednesday morning. Also, we got a call today from the medical claims adjuster.
Josh is watching TV now. Probably the only time today he's going to get what he wants to do instead of catering to the needs of some other person, so I'm not going to complain. But these days I'm sleeping in the same room as the TV, and I kind of want to go to sleep. 6am is going to come very early in the morning.
*sigh* This whole experience sucks -- did I mention?
