Well, we are still going to 12th night, although I have that same vauge "gee I'd rather stay home and sleep" feeling that I often have before travelling a long distance to go to big indoor events.
Last night was wretched. Actually, it started off ok, what with Ivan making us yummy jambalaya for supper and then sitting like slugs on the couch while the laundry was awashing and watching stuff on Tivo (I'm a Project Runway junkie, I'm so ashamed... But Ivan is too. He he.)
But then, as I was checking my email before bed, I felt a nagging pain in my side. Yep, another kidney stone moving about in my innards, although a fairly low grade pain by the regular kidney stone pain standards. About 3am after tossing and turning I remembered that we had borrowed MJ's microwavable corn-filled sheep, and I unearthed that and zapped it and then took some drugs and crawled back into bed .... and started to actually drift off to sleep ....
.... when Ivan-the-legendary-snore reared his ugly head. Now, some of you already know that Ivan snores. What you might not realize its that its usually mostly manageable and not that bad -- I can shift him at least enough to keep him quiet until I fall asleep. Last night: nothing. No poking, shifting, moving, or holding the pillow over his face would lessen the horrible racket. At one point he offered to go sleep on the sofa, but I wouldn't let him leave as I was feeling so wretched. I think I fell asleep about 430am ... and then my alarm went off, as always, at 730.
I'm better today, but irked that this keeps turning up.
Also, am I a bad person if I wear a gown made from 100% acrylic boucle fabric to 12th night? Its a really beautiful color and weave, and you can't really tell its not a loosely woven slubby wool until you touch it (or a bit of paper leaps up from the ground and sticks to it -- it has something of a static cling issue I'm trying to iron out). It was cheeaap, and I love the color, and the fact I can't destroy it. I'd be wearing a linen undertunic and handmade period shoes, but then there's the acrylic.......
