This is starting out as a really, really bad day

On December 19th, I applied for a new credit card - no interest until November 2006. Woot! Was accepted .... waited .... waited ... as of Sunday, no card yet. Emailed the company, said "My card isn't here yet. How much longer should I wait until I become concerned."

Yesterday, card arrives. I activate it, use it two or three places on-line, no problem.

This morning, I get an email from them "We are sorry to hear that you have not received your card. Please be assured your account has been closed to avoid any unauthorized use."

So I call. Lady says -- yes, we're sending you a new card. 10-14 days. I tell her "this is not acceptable. Do you want to keep my business, because if you can't get me a card by the end of the week, I'll just pay you off now and take my business elsewhere." She says "We'll be happy to get you a card by the end of the week. There will be a $39 rush fee." Me: "No, there won't. You closed my account in error. You're going to get me a new card by Friday or else". We fight about this for a while. She finally gives in, but before the end of the call makes sure to tell me how far out of their norms she went for me by waiving this $39 fee. Lovely.

Then, I start calling roofers. We have a 26 x 6 section of roof over my kitchen that has water pouring through it and needs repair.

Roofer 1: machine

Roofer 2: machine

Roofer 3-5: machine

Roofer 6: Can't even give you an estimate until March.

Roofer 7: machine

Roofer 8: Well, I'd be happy to come throw a tarp over it for you, and we could actually do the work in February.

Roofer 9: We don't do repairs, only whole roofs.

Roofer 10: We don't do repairs, and, anyway, we don't do Victoran houses (!)

Roofer 11: machine

Roofer 12: We don't do repairs this small.

Aaaaggghhhh!

I have no idea what to do now. This seems so simple. Why can't I pay someone to come and fix my roof??
