Opening Day!!!
Apr. 11th, 2005 09:46 am( Boston Globe: Ring ceremony long-awaited )
I was in the park in 1990 when Buckner was in the midst of his "comeback" and he hit the inside-the-park home run. Its amazing to me how generous the majority of fans were to him that day. Buckner, in a perverse way, might be one of my favorite Sox players of all times. What happened that day in '86 was not really his fault, and his comeback in '90 was a superior feat of will from a man who felt he had to redeem himself.
I'm leaving work at noon, picking up some snacks I'm sure will be bad for me, and I'm going to settle in and watch at least the opening day ceremonies. I think I'm too afraid (after their terrible performance this spring) to watch much of the acutal game...
