All reports here were for a terrible, awful, world-ending blizzard. Events and such have been canceled right and left, and many, many people made their work and personal plans for today sure that today would be a snow day. A certain major catalog retailer even closed several production facilities in preparation for the oncoming onslaught.

And we woke up this morning to ... rain. Blech.

Its snowing now, somewhat harder than it was this morning, but I'm given to understand that the major storm went out to sea, or something. We'll see. It just amuses me that when everyone plans for a snow day, there almost never is really one. Also, I bet there are quite a few students out there who didn't do their homework (not to mention teachers who also may not have done their homework).

I get to be home for dinner tonight. Unless you've worked 9am - 10pm for months on end, I'm not sure if you can appreciate how much I am looking forward to this. Josh and I, sitting at a table, eating off plates, actually looking at and talking to each other. Its bliss, really it is. Simple bliss.

I really hope my new camera phone arrives today. I'm dying to play with it.

I should be working. Not playing on the net. Things to do. But I ended up staying awake until after 4:00 am last night -- I was watching TV (a couple of recent episodes of American Masters I had on the Tivo) but I didn't stay up watching TV. I just wasn't even remotely sleepy, reading in bed would have kept Josh awake, and the computer room was simply too cold. But I'm sleepy now....

A friend sent this to me last night via email:
"In case you failed to notice, Our Fearless Leader's state of the union address was given on Groundhog Day. As Air America pointed out, it's an ironic juxtaposition: one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, and the other involves a groundhog."
