Jan. 13th, 2005

Driving home from Rhode Island last night I saw the most unusual and spectacular thing ... just as I crossed into New Hampshire I noticed a fire-truck, lights ablaze, pulling onto I-95. I thought this was odd, but didn't think much more of it. Then, as I went through the Hampton Toll Plaza, I glanced over to the side and saw an entire car carrier (you know, one of those big trucks that carries eight or ten cars on it), pulled over to the side of the road and significantly on fire. It looked as though the fire had started somewhere around the second set of wheels (the wheels behind the cab), and was spectacular, to say the least, especially since they had not managed to remove any of the eight shiny new cars from the truck before they were engulfed in flames.

My ISP got its act together much faster than I anticipated, so my other website is now back on-line.

Its January 13th and our Christmas tree is still up. We should really do something about that -- and had actually scheduled and planned to do something about it last night before we got totally sidetracked (Josh had brought the storage boxes up from the basement and everything). Part of the problem is that the tree is just so freaking beautiful that its actually painful to take it down (especially since the only time we seem to have to do it is at night, and the lights are so shiny and festive...). Part of the problem is that Josh likes Christmas better than any other holiday, and taking the tree down means that Christmas is completely and utterly over. Part of the problem is that we also simply don't have enough time in our lives to do the things we need to do (possibly because we waste so much time doing fun want-to-do stuff like going to events). But we have a firm deadline now -- Seth and Jenn's annual tree burn (here are some photos from last year) is on Sunday, and if we don't get the tree down before then we'll be stuck with a dead Christmas tree in our yard all winter, and that would suck.
